McCONNELL, Yvonne "Bonnie", age 88, a long time resident of Madison Heights, died August 1, 2012, at Bortz Health Care of Oakland. Bonnie was born June 6, 1924, in England, to Doris (nee Dada) and Wilson Cook.
A native of Cornwall, England, Bonnie came to the United States as a toddler in 1927. She graduated from Cooley High School, Class of 1942. While on vacation with her family, Bonnie met Louis McConnell at a barn dance in Lexington, Michigan. They fell in love, were married, and while raising their family, returned to Lexington to a family cottage they purchased in 1950. After retirement they built a permanent home in Lexington.
Bonnie worked as a secretary at Alan B. Shepherd Elementary School in Warren for 15 years until her retirement in 1980.
Bonnie is survived by her sons Bill (Carol) McConnell and Rob (Toni) McConnell, and grandchildren, Erin, Alison, Cameron, and Steven. She is preceded in death by her husband Louis and grandson Brian McConnell.
Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday at 4:00 p.m. and are welcome to remain for her Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m.
