Rose Geiger, 95, Mandan, died March 29, 2003, at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Revs. Patrick Schumacher and John Kuhn officiating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a rosary and vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rose Hellman was born Aug. 31, 1907, in Romania, the daughter of Michael and Emlia (Marthaller) Hellman. Her family immigrated to Burt in 1908, where Rose was raised and attended school.

On June 11, 1929, Rose married Matt Geiger at St. Placidus Catholic Church, Mott. They lived near Harmon from 1929 to 1937, then lived in Yakima, Wash., from 1937 to 1938, and then returned to Burt where they lived for seven years. In 1946, they returned to northwest Mandan to the original Geiger homestead.

Rose enjoyed canning, sewing, gardening, shopping and making angel food cakes for weddings. She also enjoyed her independence and living in her own home.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and John Landeis, Mandan; three sons and two daughters-in-law, William J. and Minnie Geiger, Mandan, and Daniel and Karen Geiger and Mel Geiger, all of Minot; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Matt; her daughter, Viola Geiger-Stein; her daughter-in-law, Karen K. (Mosbrucker) Geiger; her son-in-law, Robert Stein; her brother, Jerome Hellman; her sister, Ann Zentner; and her grandchildren, Billy and Claude Geiger.
