Mr. Bowman was born January 3, 1930 in Hawkinstown, Shenandoah County, VA, son of the late Vernon Kemper and Lila Kingree Bowman.
He retired in 1994 after 36 years at Highway Motors in Harrisonburg as service manager of the truck department. Mr. Bowman was a wealth of knowledge with his mechanical skills and ability to fix or make anything with a "do it yourself" attitude. If he didn't have the part he needed, he fabricated one.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Reva Fadely Bowman, March 14, 1992.
He is survived by two daughters, Judy Kidd (John) of Broadway and Nancy Silvious (Ken) of Doylestown, PA; two sons, Danny Bowman (Barbara Nye) of Fannettsburg, PA and Tommy Bowman (Susan) of Edinburg; a sister, Margaret Bowman of Mt. Jackson; six grandchildren Meredith Silvious, Tyler Silvious, Matthew Bowman, Amy Bowman, Jason Kidd and Joseph Kidd; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Mt. Jackson Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Dellinger Funeral Home, Mt. Jackson.
