In 1889 the bodies of Alex Thompson and his parents, Rev. Samuel Thompson and
Mary Thompson, were removed from their original burial place, at the Chapline
Farm outside of Sharpsburg in Washington County, Md., by John P. Smith and Henry
Burgan (the first superintendent of Mountain View Cemetery). They now rest at
Mountain View.
