Pauline Bates, 91, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, of heart failure.
Born Sept. 6, 1913, in Quincy, Ill., she had lived in Lake San Marcos during the winters from 1981 to 1996, and year-round from 1996 to June 2004.
Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her son, James Bates, in 1973.
She is survived by her husband, W. Raymond Bates of Illinois; sons David Bates of Texas, and Edward Bates of Illinois; grandchildren Susana, Andrea, Keenan, Tyrone and Alana.
A funeral service was held at the Disciples Methodist Church with interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Morris, Ill.
The family suggests donations to the National Federation of the Blind, 1800 Johnson St., Baltimore, MD 21230, the James P.
