Leona M. Palmer, 89, Phillips, WI died on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls.

She was born on September 6, 1917 in Phillips, the daughter of Sanford and Ona (Beason) Hill. She attended school in Phillips.

She was married to Albert Palmer on September 6, 1934 in Phillips. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1992.

In her free time she was an avid baker who had banana cake as her specialty, enjoyed outdoor activities including fishing and gardening, and also crocheting.

She is survived by three sons: Robert (Doris) Palmer, Kodiak, Tenn., Ronald (Carolyn) Palmer, Phillips, and Raymond (Sharon) Palmer, Ladysmith; a daughter, Marjorie (Anthony) Caron, Bismarck, North Dakota; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elwin Hill, Phillips, and a sister, Marie Peneau, Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her parents; 14 brothers and sisters, and by two grandsons.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat. Jan. 27, at the United Methodist Church in Phillips, with Pastor Sandra Hamilton officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Phillips in the spring.

Friends may call after 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, at the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips. The Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips is in charge of the arrangements.
