Witty worked as a heavy equipment operator for Atlantic Richfield in Wilmington, California at the time of his death. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the 833rd Bomb Squadron in the Eighth Air Force. Loved by his family, nicknamed 'Witty' due to his jovial jokester personality, he is missed by all.

Relatives here received word of the sudden death of Aldred (Witty) Bruins, 48, of Lakewood, Calif., who passed away Friday [Jan. 25] after suffering a heart attack. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Lakewood. He is survived by his wife, the former Joy Arendsen of Sioux Center, two children and his mother, Mrs. William Bruins, of Bellflower, Cal.

The family made their home here before moving to California some 17 years ago.

ALDRED BRUINS

Word was received by friends here of the recent death in California of Aldred Bruins, former Sioux Center resident and a graduate of the local high school. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Bruins.

He is survived by his wife Joy, one daughter, Connie, a son Gene, his mother, Maggie Bruins, four brothers, John William, Benjamin, Robert and Ronald; five sisters, Mary Stroup, Margaret Van Kooten, Vivian Koolmees, Betty Harris and Eilene Reese.

Mr. Bruins was born in Sioux Center.
