Lycurgus William Boone was born in Bachelor Twp, Greenwood County, Kansas to Lenox Martin K Boone and Anna Elizabeth "Nannie" (Houck) Boone of Putnam County, Indiana. He was the fourth of ten children, and the first boy. He first married Edna Wilmetta Murphy on December 31, 1901 in Greenwood County, Kansas. They were the parents of Florence Irene, William Irving, and Rollin Murphy. Edna died in 1928. In about 1930 "Curg" married Mary Edith Batchelor, who was the widow of George Franklin Klein.
