1919 - At the parsonage of St. Matthew's Lutheran church, Tenth and Maple streets, last Saturday evening at 8 o'clock, Rev. John A. Richter, pastor, united in marriage William E. DeLong and Miss(sic Mrs.) Laura C. (nee Hausman) Hartenstein, both of this city. The couple were unattended. The bride was charmingly attired in a gown f pearl gray crepe de chine with hat and shoes to match. The bridegroom wore the conventional black. The happy couple will reside at 817 Jackson street. The bridegroom is a returned soldier. He left this city on June 24, 1918, for Camp Greenleaf, Ga. Later he was transferred to Camp McClelland and some time later went to the prot from which he embarked for France, where he was located for one year as a member of Base Hospital, No. 63, at Chateau Roux.

1960 - William E. DeLong of 817 Jackson St., Allentown, a retired grocer, died at 11:30 a.m. yesterday at his summer home in Point Phillips. He was 72. DeLong retired seven years ago after operating a store 13 years at Bradford and Union Sts. Before going into business for himself, he was superintendent of A&P stores in Allentown many years. Born in Alburtis, he was a son of the late Elias and Catherine (Knerr) DeLong. He resided in Allentown since 1908. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ of Allentown and was a former church secretary. He was an army veteran of World War I. Surviving with his widow, Lillian C. DeLong, is a brother, Curtis, Allentown. He was predeceased by his first wife, Eva Rabenold DeLong. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Trexler Funeral Home, 116 S. 8th St., Allentown. Viewing will be 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday.
