Funeral services for Mr. James Luther Hayes, age 83, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Champ Cumberland Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Robert Hall. Burial was in the Champ Cemetery, with Higgins Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Hayes, formerly of the Champ community, died Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Marvin Walker of the Taft community. He was born in Lincoln County and was the son of the late James Lafayette and Willie Bray Hayes. He was a member of the Champ Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Oleta May Walker of Taft, and Mrs. Radie Beatrice Ashby of Franklin County; one son, Willie Woodrow Hayes of Franklin County; one sister, Mrs. May Young of New Orleans, Louisiana; one brother, Jack Hayes of Lincoln County; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
