Mrs. Bertha Ida Hayes, 60, died at her home near Champ Monday night, July 26. The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Champ Church, conducted by B. D. Smith, with burial in the Champ Cemetery. She was a prominent woman of the community and loved by all who knew her. Survivors are her husband, Luther Hayes; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin Walker and Mrs. Woodrow Ashby; one son, Woodrow Hayes; 9 grandchildren, all of the Champ community; three sisters, Mrs. Tom George, Mrs. Hugh Thompson, and Mrs. Monroe White; two brothers, C. J. Fanning and W. H. Fanning, of Lincoln County.
