Sharon Edwin Morton, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Sept. 9, 2004, surrounded by his family. Sharon was born on July 21, 1917 in Roosevelt, Utah. His parents were Dr. John Edwin and Ellen Baker Morton. He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Gardner on September 22, 1938. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had 66 wonderful years together. Later in his life he discovered his biological roots and was welcomed into the Arthur Wiscombe family whom he dearly loved. Sharon was an active member of the LDS Church. He served faithfully in many callings: Gospel Doctrine teacher, Bishop, High Councilor, and as a temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple, for four years. He served a full time mission with his wife to Western Samoa. He volunteered at the Utah State Prison with the Family Home Evening Program. Sharon served his country in the Navy for four years. Much of that time was on the Battleship West Virginia. He was a guard at the Arms Plant, and a communications specialist at the Naval Supply Depot during World War II. He was a successful businessman during his career and after retirement he worked for Holbrook Mortuary until he was 85-years-old. He traveled extensively and has been to all 50 states and several foreign countries. He was a self-educated man who loved learning and was an avid reader. Sharon especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a kind, generous, and friendly man. He was loved by all, never met a stranger, and always had and eye for those in need. Sharon is survived by his wife Helen; children, Diane (Fred) Nelson, Holladay, Judith (Norm, deceased) Banks, Murray, James (Gayle) Murray, Joseph (Holly), Pleasant Grove; 37 grandchildren; 82 great-grand children. Preceded in death by his baby daughter Linda, parents, brothers and sisters. Funeral services held on Tuesday, Sept. 14th, at the Rosecrest Second Ward, 3101 S. 2300 E.
