William Atwood Branigin, "Bill" was born on October 24, 1915 in Mt Vernon, Washington to Verne and Stella Branigin, the middle of 3 children. Being raised in Mount Vernon, he consequently came to Seattle to attend the University of Washington and following his bachelor's degree attained his Law Degree as well. To help finance his college days, he taught swimming at Seattle area beaches. Following his education and with the US entering WWII, Bill entered the Navy as a lieutenant and was very proud of the service he gave to his country. He and his wife of 69 years, Geraldine, who passed away in 2010, had spent several months each year in Hawaii where he continued his lifelong interest in swimming and scuba diving. Other interests included traveling and spending time on his computer.
His lifetime occupation has been that of an attorney and for over 30 years he was the legal counsel for the Carroll Mortgage Company. He was a member of the Appraisal Institute, Seattle Mortgage Bankers Association and the Washington Mortgage Bankers Association. He also belonged to the Washington Athletic Club, Elks Lodge #92 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Seattle.
He is preceded in death by his wife Geraldine Branigin, a son, Bruce Branigin, and a sister, Helen Baldwin.
He is survived by his son, Robert B. Branigin and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Bill will be held at Horizon House, 900 University St., Seattle, WA 98101 on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 10:30 am. A private interment will take place at Acacia Memorial Park, Seattle, WA.
