Roy Vander Beek was born to Govert and Kate (Van Reulder) Vander Beek on March 9, 1920, in Pella, Iowa.
On May 13, 1941, Roy was united in marriage to Verda Ver Steeg in Lancaster, Missouri. They are parents to one son, Dennis.
The family lived in Pella for over 60 years. Roy & Verda raised English Bull dogs and owned an egg and poultry business for many years. After his retirement, Roy owned and operated a running board business. He enjoyed his work, fishing, bowling plus his grandchildren were the joy of his life.
He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella, Iowa.
His funeral was held at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella, IA with Pastor Jeff Sajdak and Pastor Andy Kampphuis officiating the services. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella, Iowa.
He was survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis (Joyce) of Pella; two grandchildren and their spouses of Pella, two great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Janet Vander Beek of Pella.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Verda, who passed away September 24, 2005; one sister Walterena, and one brother Elmer.
