Verda Vander Beek, daughter of Arie and Eva (Zickel) VerSteeg, was born January 3, 1922 near Galesburg, Iowa. As a young girl, she enjoyed helping her neighbor with his horses. On May 13, 1941, she married Roy Vander Beek in Lancaster, Mo. They lived in Pella for more than 60 years. She and her husband raised English bulldogs and owned an egg and poultry business for many years. She enjoyed flowers, especially roses, and also liked embroidery and baby-sitting her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella.83, of Pella, formerly of rural Galesburg, died Saturday, September 24, 2005, at Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella.
Verda passed away September 24, 2005 in Pella. Pastor Stephen Veldhuis and Pastor Andy Kamphuis officiated the funeral services at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella, Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Survivors include her husband; son, Dennis (Joyce) of Pella,; two grandchildren and their spouses; ; a great-grandson; and a sister-in-law, Janet Vander Beek.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
