On May 1, 1886, he married Miss Anna Compo at Ogdensburg. About 35 years ago the family moved to Croghan where Mrs. Compeau died in 1922.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Edward Compeau of Ilion and William Compeau of Croghan; Mrs. Leon (Rose) Kelly of Constableville and Mrs. Ambrose (Leona) Turck of Croghan; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.
