In March 1943 Virgil was united in marriage to Irene Johnson. To this union three children were born: Sandra Halverson, Judy (Halverson) Moss, and Joan (Halverson) Horton. On Aug. 19, 1972 Virgil married Alice Miller. Alice passed away in November 1979.
Farming was what Virgil loved to do, and did it with great pride. He farmed until his retirement in 1987, and then farming became his favorite hobby. He also enjoyed woodworking, especially making clocks. His kitchen was a coffeehouse to anyone who wanted to join him in a cup of
coffee and conversation.
Virgil was a lifelong resident of Buena Vista County. He entered Sioux Care Center in 1988. It was there that he passed away on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1999. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice; and two brothers, Donald and Emmett Halverson.
