Daniel was a son of John Goodenow & Rebecca Tyler.
He was married on 4 Jun 1828 to Sarah Ann Holmes.
Daniel, a graduate of Dartmouth University. Judge Goodenow had four brothers, all were lawyers. Hon. Rufus K. Goodenow of Paris,and Hon Robert Goodenow of Farmington were representatives from Maine. Two sisters Mrs. Alpheus Spring of Fryeburg and Mrs Daniel Stone of Maulden, Mass.
Daniel was first married to the daughter of Judge Dana of Fryburg and the widow of Henry B. Osgood Esq. of Fryeburg
Children by first wife, wife of Rev. William H. Wilcox of Malden, Mass. Son John Homes Goodenow and Henry Clay Goodenow. Only child by second wife, wife of James Hopkins Smith Esq. of New York.
