Lester was born July 13, 1921, in Antioch Township, Wexford County, to Fred Ray and Maude Grace (Zeitz) Smith. He married the former Velma Mae Jones on May 27, 1948 in Meauwataka and she preceded him in death on April 10, 2012.
Mr. Smith served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for the Department of Natural Resources. He enjoyed fishing, traveling to Alaska, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by their children: Kenneth (Beth) Smith of Westville, Ind., Larry (Helen) Smith of Boon, and Shirley (Bill) Weiss of Alden; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a brother, Gail (Mary) Smith.
In addition to his wife, Velma, he was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers and sisters.
