Wakter Leland Smith of Thompsonville died Monday 29 Mar 1993 at the age of 61 y 8 m 28 d at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Survivors included his wife, Virginia; 3 sons, Greg & Brenda Spaulding of Wilmore, Kentucky, Gary & Carol Smith of Albuquerque, 5 daughters, Susan Wagatha of Manton, Judy & Les Gallagher of Lansing, Cheryl & William Reid of Traverse City, Melody & Keith Feigum of Washington, Illinois, and Cindie & Tim Sutherland of Pekin, Illinois; New Mexico, David & Mona Smith of Cushing, Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 2 brothers, Lester & Velma Smith of Boon, and Gail & Mary Smith of Cadillac; 3 sisters, Margaret & Alec Sparks of Cadillac, Gladys & Fred Jacobs of Baldwin, Lois & Eldon Nicholas of Wyoming, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Maude.
Visitation was 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday 31 Mar 1993 at Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva. Services were 1 pm Thursday 01 Apr 1993 at First Congregational Church in Thompsonville with Rev Lloyd W Jewett officiating.
Burial was in Pleasanton Cemetery in Bear Lake in the spring.
Memorial contributions were to be directed to the First Congregational Church with envelopes available at The funeral home.
