From the Faribault Daily News, Feb. 5, 1970:

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Urland Lutheran Church with the Rev. George O. Thompson officiating. Mrs. Peter Brandvold rendered two vocal selections: "Taenk Nar En Gang" in the Norwegian and "Nearer My God To thee," accompanied by Mrs. Truman Skaro the church organist. Oscar Skaro, Palmer Flom, Edgar Ramstad, Peter Brandvold, Arnold Haugen and Halvor Lillesve served as casketbearers. Interment took place at the Urland Cemetery. Johannes L. Hauge passed away at the Dilly Convalescent Home in Northfield, on Jan. 28, at the age of 86. Son of Lars and Jurie Jordalsen Hauge, he was born at Lerdolsogn, Norway on June 18, 1883. He attended the Public Schools and was confirmed in Norway. In 1903 he emigrated to America, coming to the home of Peter Lee in the Nansen area. Mr. Lee had sponsored his coming to this country. He worked in the Wanamingo area until 1921 when he settled on the Peter Lee Homestead in Wanamingo township and at this time joined the Urland Lutheran Church. In the year of 1924 he was united in marriage to Josephine Lilleskov. To this union one son and one daughter were born. He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine in 1961, his son, Louet, who lost his life while serving in the Armed forces of The United States in the year of 1944 during World War II, two brothers also preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter Jannes (Mrs. John Svien) of rural Dennison, four grandchildren; Virginia, John, JoAnn and Jeanette Svien, also several nieces and nephews in Norway.
