Mary Kathryn Gardner, daughter of Amon Speed and Esther Jennie Blackman Arnold, was born on a farm in Wapello County near Dudley, Iowa, on Dec 31, 1885. She passed away at the Camair Convalescent Home in Oskaloosa on Oct 18, 1969 at 11:55 P.M. at the age of 83 years, nine months and 17 days.

She was a member of United Methodist Church and lived in this community most of her lifetime. She moved to Oskaloosa with Mr. Gardner at the time of his retirement, where she has made her home since that time, having been a patient at Camair home since June 11, 1968.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her son, Arnold, and her grandson, Capt. Gardner, two sisters and one brother.

She is survived by four brothers, Herbert Arnold, Blakesburg; Raymond Arnold, Albia, Arthur Arnold, Goodman Wisconsin and Richard Arnold, Avery Iowa.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 21, at 2 PM at the Eddyville United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Interment was made at Highland Cemetery in Eddyville with the Eddyville funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
