Research has not proven a theory that Moses Hopwood & Elizabeth Hinkley Pridham are her parents, no one else seems to be old enough to be her father.

NOTE: Death year and birth years have not yet been sourced. Unsourced death year of 1830 can be found online but again, without any sources.

ESTHER ANNE HOPWOOD was the daughter of an unknown mother and JOHN HOPWOOD. There was a man by this name living in McClellandtown, Fayette County, PA at the right time to be her father.

ESTHER is believed to have married WILLIAM approximately 1763, the year before the birth of their first recorded child, WILLIAM H. MCCLELLAND (1764-1833).

She may have been the second wife of WILLIAM "DOC" MCCLELLAND, following a first wife named ANN, whose name appears on early records with that of DOC.

Children generally attributed to ESTHER:

1) William H. McClelland (1764–1833)

2) JAMES McClelland (1767–1846)

3) Andrew McClelland (1770–1830)

4) John McClelland (1771–?)

5) Asa McClelland (1776–1854)

6) Enos McClelland (1784–1814)

7) David McClelland (?-1851) At least one family of descendants claims this man was a son of WILLIAM and ESTHER MCCLELLAND.
