He married JOHANNA WOODRUFF around 1790. Lists of their children are difficult to finalize due to lack of reliable records.

To date no dependable military service records for JAMES MCCLELLAND have been found. There are two records of men by that name from PA serving in the War of 1812, one in Hill's Regiment PA Militia and the other in Capt. Vance's Co, PA Volunteers, but without more detail it's impossible to know if this was him or one of the many MCCLELLAND men also named James who were living in PA during that time. JAMES would have been in his forties during that conflict.
