Caroline A. Rhodes was born July 1, 1908 at her parents' home at Mason City, Nebraska, to Christen P. and Nellie Mortensen Peterson. She passed away at Kearney County Hospital in Minden, Nebraska on July 28, 1972. She was 64 years of age at the time of her death.
She was baptized Lillian Caroline Albertine Peterson at Zion Lutheran Church in Mason City, and later in her youth was confirmed at the same church. She spent her childhood at Mason City, and it was there she attended school.
On October 29th, 1931, she was united in marriage to Rolland R. Rhodes at Kearney, Nebraska. God blessed this union with three children.
She had resided in Minden for the last thirteen years of her life. Prior to this she lived in the Nebraska communities of Riverdale, Ord, Ansley and Mason City.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Minden, and was active in many church activities until failing health confined her to her home. She was a fine loving, wife, mother, and grandmother; a woman of great courage and concern for others.
Proceeding her in death were an infant sister, Alice; an infant brother, Albert; and both her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Rolland of Minden, one daughter, Mrs. Leila Rhodes May of Kearney, Nebraska; two sons, Russell of Marlboro, Mass., and Richard of Westminster, Colo.; one brother, Lawrence Peterson of Mason City, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Patricia and Shirley May, Diane Miller and Mark, Susan, David and Kevin Rhodes; and by many, many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 31, 1972, at Bethany Lutheran Church, in Minden, Nebraska, with Rev Don Kuhlman officiating. Burial was in the Minden Cemetery. Layton Funeral Home of Minden was in charge of the arrangements.
