Son of Marcels and Elsie (Hyatt) Rhodes. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1930.
Rolland was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church of Kearney. Rolland loved music and loved to sing. He was a member of the Barbershop Chorus for a number of years and a member of the Kitchen Band from 1989 thru 2009.
He is survived by a daughter and husband Harold and Leila May of Kearney, NE; son and wife Richard and Lois of Palm Coast, FL; daughter in-law Deanna Rhodes of Marlborough, MA; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a number of step-children; step-grand children; three brothers and wives, Melvin and Em of Cedar Rapids, IA; Donald and Gilda of Oklahoma City, OK; Marvin and Mary of Lincoln, NE; a sister Marcella and Jim Welch of Rock Port, MD;and numerous nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Melda Rhodes; his sister Sarah Lamb; three wives: Caroline (Peterson) Rhodes; Maude (Lindenstein) Rhodes; Velma (Carr) Rhodes; and his son Russell.
