Mrs. Fannie Whitfield Spain, 88, of Burton Drive, Rockmart, died Tuesday, July 9, in a Rome hospital. Mrs. Spain was born in Haralson County on February 8, 1897 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Lula Hesterley Moore. She was a retired merchant and a member of the Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. B. Whitfield and a daughter Virginia Chandler. She is survived by her husband, W. A. Spain of Rockmart, two daughters, Mrs. Cathrine Goodson and Mrs. Louise Dunn, both of Rockmart and one sister Mrs. Eloise Hopkins of Dallas. Five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 11 at 4 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church. The Rev. Hugh Barrett, the Rev. Horace Wilson and the Rev. Keith Alderman officiated. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Eulas Carroll, Bobby Joe Phillips, Claude Cochran, Pershing Wadsworth, Major Camp and Kenneth Brown.
