After his mother's death, Willie (age 15) with his sister LaValla (age 14) were loved and guided by their Uncle Clarence E Rogers and Aunt Mary Janssen Rogers. The Rogers home provided all the love they needed to move forward and become happy productive adults.
Willie and Eva Jean (Willis) married in Bonham, TX (Fannin County). They returned to Wharton County where Willie worked many years for Texas Gulf Sulphur in Newgulf near Boling-Iago. Willie was proud of the remodeling of their modest home and especially proud of his manicured yard at 123 School Street in Iago, TX.
Willie and his family enjoyed many days and nights fishing in Matagorda, TX where his Uncle and Aunt had a small beach cabin. Whether it was gigging flounder, harvesting oysters or fishing with a line, Willie loved it. He was a good man with a contagious sense of humor. Seldom was he seen without his trademark heartfelt smile.
