Mrs. Mary Ellen Ballinger, 74, well known resident of Monroe township, died at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Laura Weirich, 1824 Marion Avenue. Mrs. Ballinger became seriously ill about a week ago and was taken from her home near Upland to her daughter's residence.

Mrs. Ballinger was born near Montpelier, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ephriam Perry. She was married to Joseph Ballinger, prominent Monroe township farmer, who died 24 years ago.

Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Weirich; two sons Alvin Ballinger, Elwood, and Leslie Ballinger, near Upland; 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

The body was taken to 2722 South Washington street pending funeral arrangements.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Ballinger, seventy-four, Monroe township resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Upland Friends church. Rev. B.H. Spratt, pastor of the Spencer Avenue United Brethren church of Marion will be in charge. Burial will be in Jefferson cemetery near Upland.

The body will be removed to the home tonight or early Friday from 2722 South Washington street to lie in state.
