Donald Faulkingham, 74, of Friendship, passed away April 5 after a long courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Exeter, N.H. on April 20, 1935, he was the son of the late Charles and Alice Norton Faulkingham.

He grew up in Jonesport, Friendship and Waldoboro and attended local school there. He left school to join the work force where he was employed for the railroad as a tamper, the woolen mill as a spinner, drove a coal truck and for 37 years was a mechanic for GTE Sylvania.

He loved to play music including the accordion and harmonica and played with his twin brother, David, in a band called the "Wingnuts."

He enjoyed playing Beano with Stephanie, his granddaughter. He enjoyed playing music and singing at nursing homes, soup kitchens and anywhere he could find an audience. He loved to sing Karaoke, especially performing a duet, with his wife, Janet, singing "Send Me The Pillow You Dream On."

He belonged to the Belfast and Rockland Square dancing clubs; enjoying all his time there dancing.

He was generous to a fault and would give the shirt off his back to help someone else. He loved telling jokes and spending time with his family. His motto was, "family, music, friends" and he was known for always putting his family before all else.

He was predeceased by his brother, Ernest Faulkingham.
