NEWARK: A Funeral Mass for Gina Marie Carpenter, 29, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 27, 2012 with Fr. Jonathan Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.

Gina, a lifelong parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died at the Arlington Care Center on Monday, July 23, 2012. She was born in Newark, Ohio on March 17, 1983 to Paul David and Sharon (Sutton) Carpenter of Newark.

She was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament Elementary and a 2001 graduate of Newark Catholic High School. Gina continued her education at Ashland University and The Ohio Sate University where she studied sports management and psychology.

Gina received her first set of golf clubs as a gift from her father, and the sport quickly became one of her greatest passions. She worked for several years at the Licking Springs Trout Club, eagerly waiting for the end of the work day when she could then golf 36 holes with her cousin and great friend, Cory Conley. She was the head coach for the Newark Catholic Girls Golf Team, and was truly devoted to her team.

In addition to her parents, Gina is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Anthony Hicks of Newark; her aunts and uncles, Linda Radliff, Tom and Becky Sutton, Susie and Wendell Stalling, Connie and Steve Park, Steve and Helen Carpenter, and Suzanne and Douglas Sears; and many cousins.

Gina was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Josephine Lombardo Carpenter; and her uncle, Mike Carpenter.

Friends and family may call from 4-8 P. M., Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
