NEWARK: A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul David Carpenter, 66, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, March 27, 2013 with Fr. Jonathan Wilson celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Paul David, a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Friday, March 22, 2013. He was born in Newark, Ohio on February 20, 1947 to the late Brice Carpenter and Josephine (Lombardo) Carpenter.

Paul David, a 1966 Newark Catholic High School graduate, was a United States Marine Corps Veteran and served a tour in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. Upon his return to Newark, he became a Firefighter with the Newark Fire Department where he dedicated many years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and was a gun collector.

Paul David is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon (Sutton) Carpenter, of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Anthony Hicks; his brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Helen Carpenter, his sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Doug Sears; his mother-in-law, Geraldine M. (Duffy) Sutton-Gressle; all of Newark; his wife's siblings Linda Radliff, Tom and Becky Sutton, Susie and Wendell Stalling, Connie and Steve Park; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Paul David was preceded in death by his daughter, Gina Marie Carpenter; and his brother, Michael A. Carpenter.

Friends and family may call from 4-8 P.M., Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 3:30 P.M. An Honor Guard will be provided by the Newark Fire Department.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 394 East Main Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.
