Gladys Mae Bergeson was born in rural Cylinder, Iowa. She was the daughter of Edward and Bertha(Finnestad)Bergeson. She grew up on the farm and received her education from the Ringsted School System where she was a 1935 graduate.
Gladys was married to Fred Johannesen on January 1, 1938, at her parents home in Cylinder, Iowa. They lived on Fred's parents' farm west of Bancroft after marriage, then moving to a farm west of Fenton. In 1954 they moved to their farm east of Seneca. Galdys was a member of the Blakjer and St.Paul's Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Modern Mixers Club. Gladys worked with Opal Kabrick for many years, painting and wallpapering. Gladys enjoyed fishing, baking, crocheting and sewing. Gladys loved to spend time with her family.
Glady and Fred were the parents of Duane (Willetta)Johannesen,Marilyn Larsen, Carol(Joe)Goyena, Rick(Judy)Johannesen, and Debra(Wayne)Gerhart.
