Jean graduated in 1933 from Caribou High School followed by one and a half years of nurse's training at Cary Memorial Hospital, Caribou. She worked there three additional years. She was united in marriage to Claude H. Lombard, "CH," Jan. 20, 1936. Soon after, they made their home in Mattawamkeag, where Jean worked as a bookkeeper in her husband's gasoline and propane distributorship. Later when Jean and CH moved to Caribou, she continued her nursing career and worked as a volunteer with hospice. Jean enjoyed family outings and outdoor activities of camping, picnicking and fishing with her family. She attended First Methodist Church of Mattawamkeag, First Congregational Church of Lincoln and First Congregational Church of Millinocket. She was a life member of Order of the Eastern Star, Mattawamkeag, Caribou and Lincoln.
Jean is survived by a son, Merton Lombard and his wife, Carolyn, of Donnelly, Idaho; a daughter-in-law, Dianne Lombard of Portland; two grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, C. H. Lombard; a son, C. Harlan "Bud" Lombard; a brother, Donald; and two sisters, Glenna and Luella.
