Charles' parents were Nimrod and Elizabeth Toomer McGuire. Nimrod died March 27, 1862.

Dr. E. Russ Williams, in Book Two of "Encyclopedia of Founding Families of the Ouachita Valley of Louisiana", page 334, states that his middle name was Herbert and he was born August 13, 1860 (or 61) and died July 11, 1863, which conflicts with the DAR dates.
