Son of Thomas Franklin and Elizabeth (Hutchens) Caudle/Cordle (she is linked to him). Being their first born child, out of 8 known children, 6 sons and 2 daughters. He was going by the name of Jason from before he was 5 years of age.

Grandson of William & Gracie (Broadway) Caudle and John & Elizabeth (Vestal) Hutchins.
(Caudle is orginial surname. When branches of the family moved from North Carolina, some ended up with spelling of Cordle, since when they said it, that is how it sounded. Where as some ended up as Caudell among about 5 other spellings).

On Oct 5, 1865 he was united in marriage to Mary E Weeks in Humboldt, Iowa. To this union one daughter was born or survived. She is Martha Alvina Cordle born May of 1867 and died 15 Jan 1937 in Mascon County, Washington. ( Thanks to Stephanie Brooks for this information.

Then Jason was untied in marriage with Nancy Arvilla Temple (1851-1884) in about 1873, in Iowa. To this union 3 known daughters were born in either Humboldt or Guthrie Counties, Iowa or possibly Warren County, New York.

They are:

Bertha May Cordle (1875-1923) Married Ulyssis G Higby (1865-1949)in 1899. (her stone says birth 1878but not correct per census's).

Nettie E. Cordle (1876-????) Not found after 1900 when still at home at age 24. Unknown if married or passed away.

Gertrude Lillian "Gertie" Cordle (1878-1899). Married William Akins Hermance. Died at age 21.

Jason after being widowed married again. Her name was Meranda ???? (1857-bef 1885). No known children to this union.

In 1900 census they are living in Brighton township, Marathon, Wisconsin, with daughter Nettie, age 23, still at home and they have his daughter Gertie's daughter Jane Arville "Jannie" Hermance who is 2 years of age. Her mother died (probably in child birth) when she was just 14 months old. Her father didn't remarry until about 1902 and by then, with him still being in New York where she was born, she no longer knew him. So she remained with her grandfather.

In 1910 they are in Hull, Marathon, Wisconsin living with his daughter Bertha and her family. Jannie is still in the home being only about 12 years of age.

In 1920 they are back in Brighton, Marathon, Wisconsin (maybe Brighton and Hull are very close together and they are living in country between the two towns). He is now 76 years of age. Jannie who would be about 22, is no longer listed in the home. It is unknown if she used her maiden name or took Cordle as it, or after becoming an adult she may of gone to be with her father, his wife and 6 half siblings. Unknown if she did or married in Wisconsin.

Jason passed away at the age of 83 in 1927, 4 years after his daughter passed. I am guessing that Ulyssis or someone in the family cared for him until the day he died.

His fathers place of burial is unknown except for being in Missouri, where they went after leaving Iowa. Jason's wives places of burials also unknown.

UPDATE: 05 Feb 2014

Jason had a wife I had missed. She is Sarah Frances Wallingsford, daughter of James G. and Elizabeth Painter Wallingsford (family began dropping the "s" in their name in the 1800's, making it Wallingford). Jason and Sarah were united in marriage 26 May 1886 in Guthrie County, Iowa. No known surviving children came from this union.
