She was a lifelong Blanchardville area resident. She was born Sept. 12, 1892, the former Nina Mason, the daughter of William and Ella Knorr Mason. She attended Blanchardville school and on Jan. 20, 1915 she was married to Millard Loe. Mr. Loe was a painter, cabinetmaker and radio repairman in this area before retirement.
Mrs. Loe was a member of the Blanchardville United Methodist Church and of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a Gold Star Mother. A son, Pvt. Ronald Loe, 21, was lost at sea in March 1957, when he was among the 67 Americans aboard a U.S. Military transport plane missing in the Pacific, enroute to overseas service.
Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Russell (Phyllis) Sebert, Madison; Mrs. James (Lorraine) MacVean, Martin, Mich.; Mrs. Howard (Marjorie) Hanson, Mineral Point; and Mrs. Edward (Janice) Kerwan, Loves Park, Ill.; two sons, Gerald, Maywood, Ill., and Merlin, Birmingham, Ala.; four sisters, Mrs. Harry L. French, Mrs. Pearl Mitchell, Miss Ilene Mason and Mrs. Robert Purcell, all of Madison; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Blanchardville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Duane Andus officiating. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery, Blanchardville.
Saether Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
