Sanford T. Halverson, 88, Blanchardville, died Friday, December 13, 1996 in Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. He was born July 14, 1908 in York Township, Green County, the son of Theodore and Sena (Colden) Halverson. He attended the Dixon school near Mount Vernon. On March 3, 1939 in Dubuque, Iowa, he married Edna Gilbertson. Sanford farmed in rural Blanchardville until 1970 when he and Edna moved to Blanchardville and he started working at the quad County Co-op Feed Mill in Blanchardville. He retired in 1986. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanchardville.

Survivors include his wife, Edna, Blanchardville; two sons, Phillip (Barbara) and Kenneth (Reeni), both of Madison; one brother, Burnell, Mount Horeb; two sisters, Evelyn (Fred) Rice, Madison and Bernice (Gene) Hamilton, Mount Horeb; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Sammy, who died October 13, 1968; four sisters, Mabel DeWaide Taylor, Amy Blanchard, Ella Severson and Viola Halverson who died at the age of 19 and one brother Herbert.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, December 17 at the Saether Funeral Home, Blanchardville. Rev. Janice Mynchenberg of the Pecatonica Lutheran Parish officiated with burial in Graceland Cemetery, Blanchardville. Saether Funeral Home, Blanchardville assisted the family.
