OBITUARY 19 Oct 1943, Tuesday, "New-Democrat," Goshen, IN:

"Joseph J. Knoll, 75,who resided at 502 Dewey avenue died at 8:36 a.m. today at Goshenhospital where he was taken Sunday morning from Epworth hospital,South Bend. Mr. Knoll had been confined to the South Bend hospital forfour weeks and had undergone a major operation there. He was the sonof Mr. and Mrs. Sebastian Knoll and was born at Independence, Iowa. Hehad been a resident of Goshen for 14 years and was an employee of theI-XL Furniture Company until three years ago. He married Mary LouiseLeider in 1892 and after her death, he married Rose Zimmerman. He wasa member of the Evangelical Reformed church. Surviving are his wife, adaughter, Mrs. Mildred Butts, of Michigan City; three sons, Raymond,Ralph, and Carl all of Goshen; four grandchildren; onegreat-grandchild; two step-grandchildren; four step-sons, George E.Moon of Goshen; Leo Zimmerman of Toledo; Frank Zimmerman, of Goshen;and Lt. James Zimmerman of Chicago, and one step daughter, Mrs. MaryKoffitz of Toledo. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m.at the Evangelical Reformed church, the Rev. C.E. Sitler officiating.Burial will be in the Oak Ridge cemetery. The body will be in state at the church from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. Thursday and friends will be received at the Culp Funeral Home until 1:30 p.m. Thursday."
