PFC Brian J. Clark had been in Vietnam for less than a month, and in the Army for eight months. He was killed in an engagement on the Kinh Tong Doc Canal, a navigational waterway in the Mekong Delta. His actions earned him 2 Bronze Star medals (One medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster) as well as the Purple Heart medal.
This was during the major Tet Offensive and in the Dinh Tuong Province. In 1976, the Dinh Tuong Province and neighboring Go Cong Province were merged to form the Tien Giang Province.
