S. Perry Abbott Dies Suddenly of Heart Attack
Stephen Perry Abbott, 62, Died in his home at Lehi Friday at 8:30 p.m. following a heart attack. He had just completed a delivery errand when he was stricken.

Born at Bunkerville, Nev., Oct. 21, 1883, a son of myron A. And Mary Leavitt Abbott, he was 3 years old when the family moved to Annabella, Sevier county, where he received his early education. He married Clara Anna Etta Poulson, Richfield, July 20, 1905, in the Manti L D S temple, and three years later they move to Richfield, where she died Feb. 25, 1920. He married Lorena May Gee, May 11, 1921, in the Manti temple. They moved to Delta, where they lived for four years. In 1928 they moved to Lehi, where they had resided since.

For the past 10 years Mr. Abbott had been employed by the Salt Lake & Utah railroad as a deliveryman, and he also carried the mail to and from the post office to the depot for several years.

Surviving besides his widow are five sons and six daughters, Ronald P. Abbott, Idaho Falls, Ida.; Paul M. Abbott, Mrs. Norma Rogers, Mrs. Mary Self, Salt Lake City; M. Dee Abbott, Payson; Stephen Garth Abbott, Berkeley, Cal.; Mrs. Azalia Stolworthy, Blackfoot, Ida.; Stanley E. Abbott, U.S. Navy; Lorena Abbott, Lehi; one sister, Mrs. Joseph Robison, Delta; six brothers, Edward L. And George M. Abbott, Delta; James H. And William L. Abbott, Provo; L.B. Child, California; Thomas L. Abbott, San Mateo, Cal., and 16 grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Lehi Second L D S ward by E.N. Webb, bishop.

Abbott Rites Held In Lehi 2nd Ward
Stephen Perry Abbott, a resident of Lehi for the past sixteen years, died at his home last Friday of a heart attack. Mr. Abbott was born in Bunkerville, Nevada, October 21, 1883, and was the the son of Myron A. And Mary Leavitt Abbott.

With his parents he moved to Annabella, Sevier county, when he was three years of age. He received his early education in the schools of Sevier county. He married Clara Anna Etta Poulson of Richfield July 20, 1905, in the Manti temple. Three years later they moved to Richfield where Mrs. Abbott died Feb. 25, 1920.

Mr. Abbott married Lorena May Gee, May 11, 1921, in the Manti temple. They moved to Lehi in 1928. For the past ten years Mr. Abbott had been employed by the Salt Lake & Utah railroad.
Besides his widow, he leaved five sons, Ronald P. Abbott of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Paul M. Abbott of Salt Lake, M. Dee Abbott of Payson, Stephen Garth Abbott of Berkeley, Calif., and Stanley E. Abbott of the U. S. Navy; six daughters, Mrs. Norma Rogers and Mrs. Mary Self of Salt Lake, Mrs. Azalia Stolworth of Balckfoot Idaho; Leahnore, Roena and Lorena Abbott of Lehi.
He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Josephine Robison of Delta, and six brothers, Edward L. And George M. Abbott of Delta, James H. And William L. Abbott of Provo, Thomas L. Abbott of San Mateo, Calif., and L. B. Abbot of Child, Calif.

Services Wednesday opened with a vocal solo. “Whispering Hope,” by Yvonne Ash. Henry O. Poulson offered the opening prayer followed by a violin solo by Frank Shaw. Cecil L. Ash was the first speaker. Duane Woffinden, with Yvonne Ash at the piano, then sang “Home on the Range.” Stake President A. C. Schow was the second speaker after which Yvonne Ash played an organ solo, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” Bishop E. N. Webb, in recalling some of the highlights of Mr. Abbott’s life, pointed out that he was one of the best natured men he had ever known, had no enemies, and was always on of the first to respond to any call to help others in need. Bishop Webb stressed the high esteem in which Mr. Abbott was held by all of his neighbors.
After Bishop Webb’s remarks, a mixed quartet, comprised of Thelma Goodwin, Leona Shelton, Rulon Fox and Duane Woffenden sang, “Abide with Me.” They were accompanied by Yvonne Ash. Allen Wells offered the benediction and E. L. Abbott dedicated the grave in the Lehi City Cemetery.

Funeral Held For Stephen P. Abbott
The funeral of Stephen Perry Abbott, who died suddenly of a heart attack Friday, May 31, was held in the Second Ward chapel, June 5, Bishop E. N. Webb conducting. Miss Yvonne Ash played the organ prelude and postlude, and accompanied the other musical numbers. The opening song, “Whispering Hope”, was sung by Miss Thelma Goodwin. Prayer, Henry O. Poulson. Violin solo by Frank W. Shaw “Andante,” by Gluck. The first speaker was Cecil L. Ash, who spoke as a friend and neighbor, and read a poem by Edgar A. Guest, “Fishing Cure”, which seemed to describe Mr. Abbott. Duane Woffinden sang, “Home on the Range”; Stake Pres. A. Carlos Schow, spoke, and Miss Ash played an organ solo, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”.
Bishop Webb spoke of the characteristics of Mr. Abbott, describing his friendliness, and genial personality. The closing song was a mixed quartette: Leona Shelton, Thelma Goodwin, Rulon Fox, Thelma Goodwin, “Abide With Me”. The closing prayer was given by Allen Wells, and the grave dedicated by E. L. Abbott.

Hesser, Golden Gee, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Barney, Lillian C. Jolley, and Pres. J. Will Knight of the Salt Lake Temple: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Poulsen, Ezra Poulsen, and daughters, Shirley and Evelyn., and Juanita Farr.
