John was the son of Thomas Brigham and Elizabeth Bowker. He was married on March l2, 1750, at Sudbury, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, to Abigail Johnson (born February 6, 1731/2, at Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, d.c. 1782), the daughter of William Johnson and Ruth Rugg. Between them they are known to have had two children and possibly ten.
John owned lot #11, at Tyringham, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, which he sold to his son—in-law Jeremiah Scripture, on June 22, 1771. He was living at the Town of Sudbury in Middlesex County, Massachusetts in 1790, but by 1800 was at Alford in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, living next to his son—in—law Jeremiah Scripture.
