Dorothy Block, age 99, of Menomonee Falls, WI, formerly of Rhinelander, died on May 17, 2007 at the Riverview Assistant Living in Menomonee Falls, WI. She was born on July 17, 1907 in Menomonie City, WI to George and Emma (Schmidt) Rudiger.
Dorothy eventually moved to Milwaukee where she was employed as the head cashier at Sears. She married Edward Block in July of 1940 and they lived in Brookfield, WI until moving to the Rhinelander area in 1946.
In Rhinelander Dorothy and her husband owned and operated the Milwaukee Club on Lake George for 33 years, retiring in 1978. Dorothy was active for many years in the Lake George community and she was an "Honorary Member" of the Town of Pelican.
She enjoyed bowling and promoted it for many years. She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and it's Ladies Aid for 60 years.
She is survived by her brother Willard Rudiger and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward and her sisters Mabel Ploor and Isabel Hammel. Dorothy was a great lady, sister, aunt and friend.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery with the Reverend David Sternberg officiating. A memorial is being established for the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dorothy's name. The Carlson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Dorothy's family.
