MRS CELINA ADAMS HODGDON

Mrs. Hodgdon was born in Richmond, Me. She was the daughter of Samuel and Joan Davis Jack and was one of 13 children and is the last one of the family. Mrs. Hodgdon was twice married. Her first husband was Capt. Merrill Adams, to whom she bore two daughters, Mary E. who passed away at the age of 40 years, leaving her husband, Mr. J. Gamage of Rockland and ten children, and Cora A. Blake of Boothbay.

Capt. Merrill Adams last voyage was to South America from which he never returned. He was taken sick, while on the voyage and died at Rosario, S. A. Her second marriage was to Capt. Owen Hodgdon of Trevett, Me.

She leaves to mourn her a daughter, Mrs. Cora A. Blake of Boothbay, also 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom she was very fond, they also returning the affection with interest.

Mrs. Hodgdon was a faithful member of the Boothbay M. E. Church, taking an active part for many years. She was recognized by all as a woman of sterling Christian character, showing by her life, by precept and example the fruits of Chistian living.

She was also a member of Crescent Chapter of the Eastern Stars. She was an active member and officer, filling the chairs of Associate Matron and also of Chaplain. She loved the work and attended the meetings as long as her health and advancing years would permit.

Celina married (1) Merrill Adams 23 Nov 1864 in Boothbay ME. Celina and Merrill had 2 children and 15 grandchildren. Their children were Mary (1866-1906) and Cora (1868-1941). Both of their children were born in Boothbay ME.
