She was born August 8, 1931, near Haddam, Kansas, the daughter of Adolph Zurfluh and Lena Ryser Zurfluh.
In August 1951, she met the love of her life, Robert L. Stutesman who was stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas. Upon his return from Korea, they were married on August 18, 1953 in Abilene, Kansas.
Survivors include her husband of almost fifty-nine years, Robert L. "Bob" Stutesman; sons, Ronald E., Benny A. and Robert E. "Bobby" and Durnal Stutesman; brothers, Rev. Walter and Larry Zurfluh; sister, Florence Smith; grandchildren, Andrew M., Alexander L.; Brian A.; Amanda; Cassandra M. Stutesman; Ashley N. Miller; Sasha Coco; Nicholas E. Stutesman, Ryan L. Stutesman, Hunter D. Stutesman, Jake T. Stutesman, Landery C. Stutesman; and six great grandchildren,.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marie Else.
Viola graduated from a one room grade school, Weaver near Haddam, KS. She then graduated from Agenda Kansas High School with a class of 9 in 1949.
As a child, Viola was a member of the Fruithill United Brethren Church near Haddam, KS. In 1951, she moved to Abilene, KS and became a member of the Abilene United Brethren Church. Presently, she was a member of the Island Grove Baptist Church near Martinsville, IL. She was very active in church all of her life.
Viola worked her entire life with her husband and her family in farming, the automobile business and the towing business until her illness.
She was a member of the Areta Chapter #79, Order of the Eastern Star, Casey, IL; Badoura Temple #23, Terre Haute, IN and the Casey VFW Ladies Auxillary. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Ivan Bennett and Rev. Keith Wallace officiating.
Burial will follow in the Clarksville Cemetery, Clarksville, IL.
