Long Illness Proves Fatal To Fred Lyon
A lingering illness claimed the life of Fred G. Lyon, well-known Dayton resident, at Rochester, Minnesota, Sunday.
In poor health for many months, Lyon went to the clinic in Minnesota recently to seek relief from his illness.
Lyon was prominent in many activities of the community and at the time of his death was a vice president of the First National Bank.
Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Lutheran church.

OBITUARY
Fred G. Lyon was born a few miles east of Dayton, August 4, 1874. His parents were John F. and Anna Lyon. He was baptized Oct. 2, 1874 and has been a member ever since of the Lutheran church in Dayton. He was confirmed May 25, 1890. He has served as a trustee of the church for 36 consecutive years, from 1904 to 1940. This year he was made an honorary member of the board of trustees.
He was a member of the board of directors of the First National Bank of Dayton since April 1, 1919.
He had also served on the board of the Farmers Elevator Company. He served on the town council for a term.
He has had three places of residence, his birthplace, his farm southeast of town and his home in town.
He has been failing in health for some time and passed away on Sunday morning, February 4, at Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 65 years and 6 months.
He is survived by a half-sister, Mrs. Emma Peterson of Arlington, Nebr., 33 nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held from the Lutheran church on Thursday afternoon of last week, Pastor Ekeberg giving the sermon. Miss Pauline Cling sang "Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling," "Fade, Fade End Earth Joy," and "Shall We Meet." Interment took place in Dayton cemetery.
