MRS. ANNA LILYARD DIES TUESDAY P.M.

Mrs. Anna Lilyard passed away Tuesday evening at Lutheran hospital, Fort Dodge, at the age of 86 years. Her husband and one daughter, Edith, preceded her in death. The past winter she has been making her home with her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Freed, living in Fort Dodge. She leaves to mourn her departure, two daughters, Mrs. John Freed of Burnside and Mrs. Clarence Freed of Fort Dodge and one son, Floyd Lilyard of Dayton. Also many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the John Freed home near Burnside and at 2:00 o'clock at the Burnside Lutheran church. The Swanson funeral parlor is in charge of arrangements. Obituary will appear in next week's issue.

OBITUARY

Mrs. Anna Sophia Lilyard, a daughter of Swen Erick and Carolina Sophia Swenson, was born in Hvena [Vena] Socken, Kalmar län, Sweden, November 19, 1858, and was baptized in infancy. With her parents and a brother she came to America arriving on August 24, 1864. The family settled in Andover, Ill. From there they came to Dayton in 1870. On May 30, 1875 she was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Dayton. When the Lutheran church at Burnside was organized, fifty years ago, her membership was transferred to that church, and with the exception of about eleven years back in Dayton she has been a member there of ever since. She was a member of the Ladies' Aid and a life member of the W.M.S.

On March 18, 1880, she was united in marriage to Peter Lilyard, which marriage was blessed with four children, one son and three daughters. Mr. Lilyard passed away May 6, 1918, and a daughter, Edith, on June 12, 1920. During the last twenty years Mrs. Lilyard has made her home with one or the other of her daughters, Mrs. John or Mrs. Clarence Freed.

She passed away last Tuesday afternoon, May 1, 1945, at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 12 days. She leaves to mourn her departure, her son, Floyd Lilyard of Dayton; her daughters, Mrs. Laura Freed of Fort Dodge; and Mrs. Caroline Freed of Burnside; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Charles Swenson of Fort Dodge; John Swenson of Harcourt; Will and Norton Swenson of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Victor Swenson of Jackson, Minnesota.

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, May 4, from the Lutheran church at Burnside. Pastor Waldo Ekeberg gave the sermon. Miss Shirley Lundberg sang "I'm a Pilgrim" and "Abide With Me." Pallbearers were Marvin Carlson, Leonard Lundberg, Glenn Urelius, Ronald Freed, Walter Swenson and Theodore Swenson.

Interment took place in the Dayton cemetery. Peace to her memory.
