Stevens Stout Funeral Home in Kenton. He died at 8:25 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at Lima Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit. He was born April 3, 1942 in Hardin County to Calvin J. and Nellie (Rapp) Messenger. On Sept. 7, 1963, he married Carol McKinniss at the Grant Methodist
Church and she survives. Also surviving are a son, Jerry (Julia) Messenger of Forest; a daughter, Angela (Jon) Wells of Forest; grandchildren, Megan (Jason Holland) Messenger, Allysha (Dylan Beck) Wells, Justin Wells, Philip
Messenger and Hunter Messenger; a great-grandson,
Kellen Holland; a sister, Barbara Sladick of Sarasota,
Fla., and three brothers, Marvin (Cheryl) Messenger
of Groveland, Mass., Eldon Jay (Kathy) Messenger
and Marshall Messenger, both of Forest.
He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Wayne
Messenger.
He retired from Triumph/United Aircraft in Forest after
42 years.
He also was retired from farming and worked as a
member of the Buckeye Machine Race Spec Team
for the Indy Racing League for nine years.
A 1960 graduate of Hardin Northern High School, he
attended Bridgeport Church.
He was an avid OSU, NASCAR and Indy Racing
League fan. He enjoyed spending time with his
grandchildren and great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the
Riverdale Music Boosters, the Riverdale Athletic Boosters or the Bridgeport Church.
