Robyn was a victim of the 2002 terrorist attacks in Bali, in which two bombs were detonated in the tourist district of Kuta, inside the nightclub Paddy's Pub, and in a car outside the open air Sari Club. The bombing occurred during one of the busiest tourist periods of the year in Kuta Beach, driven in part by many Australian sporting teams making their annual end-of-season holiday. The attack killed 202 people (88 Australians, 38 Indonesians, 23 Britons, and people of more than 20 other nationalities), and injured a further 209 people.

Robyn was accompanying her teenage daughter, celebrating another friend's 15th birthday; a large group of parents and teens were visiting the Sari Club that night, a special treat for the young girls.
