Dr. John Andrew Sobol, 92, of Memphis passed away Friday, July 20, 2012, at Belmont Village.

He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, earned his Bachelor's Degree from Fitchburg State Teachers College, his Masters of Art in Science & Education from Clark University and his Doctorate from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Sobol was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict and where he held the rank of Captain and was a retired Professor from the Geography Dept. at the University of Memphis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Gordon Sobol; and survived by his daughter, Mrs. Virginia Sobol Wages and her husband, David of Germantown; grandchildren, Ashley Anne, Julie Nichole, David Paul, Jr. and Sarah Catherine Wages.

Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
